I can't just call this poor guy "Moose" when all my other stuff has cool names. Send your suggestions for a name for this painting, and I'll send an 8"x10" of "Moose" to whoever comes up with the best name. ("Bullwinkle" and "Chocolate" are right out!)

Moose are very interesting animals - they seem to have no fear. We see them in Sandpoint during the winter. Like everyone else, they come into town sooner or later for a good dinner! Some of them stick around for quite a while in the spring, too, but it is sad to see the stress a bad winter causes them. Also, I've heard a lot of stories about moose getting hit by trains because they just stand there, looking at the train as it comes. I think maybe they don't have very big brains! But they are magnificent animals. Ironically, they are attractive because of their awkward homeliness - beautiful on their own terms. I tried to capture the light on his paddles, accenting this impressive natural protection.
